The actual topic was 'Food and Drink', and I thought the obvious option, still life, was boring as hell. So I interpreted it more as meaning the food-chain, and, well, was in a bit of a blood-lusty mood. I originally wanted to do the cat catching the bird, blood and all, to capture the heat and barbarity of the moment, but decided to tune it down a bit at the last minute so people wouldn't think I was suffering from some kind of scary mental turmoil... heh. Anyway, this was completed in a 10-hour exam around the middle of Year 10 (15 years old) and was my second proper acrylic painting ever, the first is the deviation before this - the 'myself' one. This is a digital photo because it's too large for my scanner. Erm, the cat and bird were based on black and white photos I found on the net, and adding colour was a complete nightmare. I got a B overall for the project, which I thought was quite good considering my near-complete lack of sketchbook-work.
