Artist's Comments

So I actually sat down and finished it!
I gave her a hand, some hair-swirlies with birds coming out of them (I tend to doodle birds instead of hair, I hate hair THAT much), and generally spent some time detailing that damned hair.
I would really appreciate your views on this, since I want to put it in my portfolio and am considering getting a prints account...

.QUESTIONS!
Would you consider buying this? Does the hand destroy the composition? It took me aaaaages but I will take it out if it draws the eye away from her face too much. Do I need to do something about those random nouveau-ey hair swirls? D'they look really stupid? Should I take the border out? Is everything just too busy? *sigh* You might be able to tell that I am neurotic about this thing.

.Photoshop CS, Wacom Intuos tablet, b&w reference picture ([link]), too many hours!

the hand works and so do the hand swirls

I think it looks great just the way it is...It's like a cross between a mermaid looking up at the surface from the bottom of a green sea and a dryad dreaming of the sky. I like the black butterflies in the background that almost seem born of her hair too.

A piece of work that's sure to inspire others.

Since you asked, the face looks great (reminds me of Linda Hamilton). I'd keep the hand - it adds to the composition, but I'd balance it by further defining the swirly hair (which looks too insubstantial when compared to the realism of the rest of the piece).

I like the hand, and I say keep it

i think the hand looks great, and the picture does too. the only thing is, the hair in the backround doesn't seem to quite fit. it looks more like just a backround, but that's just me. :P

wow U have a really great pict. there :)
U R really talented

...

and a tons of questions ;)
I say U shouldn't think so mutch about these stuffs :)
If U like it, keep it; if U dont, leave it... if U don't like it, but feel something about it, than sit down, relax a bit and start ower :) , the main thing is : don't think, just feel :)

a painting is ready when U are happy with it, but if U feel that somthing is wrong, just leave it as it is for a while...... maybe later U will realise what's wrong :)

sorry 'bout my english

I'd like it if the swirls weren't half blurry half sharp, and would look better if they were all blurry.

I would buy it if the hair was a little mor detailed and not semi-sloppy at the top ends. The face is OUTSTANDING... I wish I could do that.

There is really something special in this... it's hard to point out what, though. I like it very much.
:worship: @ the colours and all the fine details you've put there. Amazing.
